Nowadays many users like to install Plex Media Server on their computers or NAS devices and install Plex App on other devices, like mobile phones, smart TVs, Tivo, iOS devices, PSP, Xbox 360 and literally any device to stream the videos stored on their computers or NAS devices anywhere. Theoretically Plex Media Server supports all media formats, including M2TS, but sometimes users still report that the M2TS can not be streamed on their portable devices that install Plex App. Why and how to fix it?
Different people may want to stream M2TS on different devices, but whether you can successfully stream M2TS on your device or not is decided by your device that you install Plex App. Simply put, if you want to stream M2TS on a mobile device and M2TS is natively supported by your device you can successfully stream M2TS on your device and on the contrary, you can't.
Good news is that Plex Media Server sometimes can automatically transcode the unsupported video format to the one supported by your device and that is why some unsupported video formats can be successfully streamed by your device. But the automatical transcoding is a very CPU intensive work and if your Plex Media Server CPU is not satisfactory the automatical transcoding may fail.
To avoid the failure of automatical transcoding, we can also use a professional M2TS to Plex converter to convert the original M2TS file to your device supported video format, such as MP4 H.264. To ensure the converted quality iDealshare VideoGo is recommended.
